SADD’s Vision

A world in which young people make positive decisions that advance their health and safety.

What does SADD do at CMAVTS?

  • Spread awareness on the challenges that students are facing

  • Help students share resources that are available

  • Create opportunities for students to be in a leadership role

  • Students get to learn how to effectively work in a group

  • Boost school morale—make our school a positive place to be

  • Preventing the decisions that negatively impact students and promoting the decisions that increase students’ well-being

How will we do this?

Students will have the opportunity to be creative in planning and carrying out activities centered around important issues.  The club is for students and it is run by students.

  • Sharing ideas, listening to ideas, learning about resources

  • Creating posters, handouts, items to give out, etc.

  • Making friends with other students who might have similar interests

  • Attending important events and school functions

***Issues of interest: drugs/alcohol/tobacco, bullying and violence prevention, character building, personal health and relationships, suicide prevention, mental health and wellness, school climate, safe driving, social media and peer pressure, decision-making, communication, positivity, resilience, diversity, etc.

Who can join?

Any student who is interested in promoting a safe and positive school environment is welcome to join. Grades, attendance, and discipline are always taken in to consideration when students are interested in joining a club.

SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Layout

Advisor: Miss Flynn

Location of Meetings: Student Services

Attending meetings: You must try your best to make every meeting. If for some reason you can’t make a meeting, check in with Miss Flynn to see what you missed.  After every meeting, I will send out an e-mail to your teachers with the meeting attendance and time you checked in. NO WANDERING HALLS!

Meeting Schedule: 1st Monday of the month during Enrichment (go to homeroom until the announcements are over, then report to Student Services). If there is no school, stay tuned to the announcements for the rescheduled date.

>>> Tentative (not definite) meeting dates: First meeting is Monday, September 9th and so-on unless it falls on a holiday.

Focus groups: At every meeting we will discuss the events that are coming up and ideas for them. On Wednesdays in Enrichment students can work on SADD things in Student Services—only if they have no other obligation or are caught up on work.

Participation: Although you do not have to help out with every single event or activity, participation is important and if there are re-occurring issues to participation, this may mean that this club is not right for you.

Fundraising: There is a chance that being a member of SADD we may have to participate in fundraising events in order to get supplies.

Officers: Depending on the size of the club, there may be a chance to become an officer (ex: president, VP, secretary, etc.).

Please do not use class time to work on projects. Free time during enrichment is available and you may come down to Student Services to work on things.
